Artificial intelligence (AI) is moving ocular imaging from detection of disease to prediction of its course. In the August issue of The Lancet Digital Health, Ruben Hemelings and colleagues describe G-PROG, a deep-learning model to predict the risk of glaucoma progression from a baseline colour fundus photograph. Yet the information conveyed by modern ocular image analysis methods is not limited to ocular conditions.
