Barclays 将裁员约 5000 人，CEO 称 AI 提效是主因之一

据 WSJ 报道，Barclays 今年将裁员约 5000 人，占员工总数约 5%，其中约 1000 个岗位已在 2026 年上半年裁减。CEO C.S. Venkatakrishnan 表示约 60% 的裁员集中在支持职能，包括开发者岗位，因为 AI 让员工效率更高。同期 Barclays 第三季度税前利润增长 12%，达 23 亿英镑。HSBC 据报道考虑在未来几年裁减多达 2 万个岗位，Standard Chartered 计划到 2030 年将公司职能岗位缩减超 15%。

About 1,000 of those roles went in the first half of 2026, and the rest go before year end.
Around 60% of the cuts fall on support functions, “including fewer developers as AI makes our people more productive,” said Chief Executive C.S. Venkatakrishnan.
All these while 3rd-quarter pretax profit rose 12% to £2.3B. Among rivals, HSBC is reportedly weighing up to 20,000 role cuts over the coming years, while Standard Chartered plans to shrink corporate function roles by more than 15% by 2030.
Venkatakrishnan calls AI the icing rather than the cake, because its savings depend on infrastructure built beforehand.
