据 WSJ 报道，Anthropic 为租用芯片需要 630 亿美元融资，因无法直接买断芯片，由一家壳公司向银行和 Blackstone 借款购买芯片，再靠 Anthropic 的租金还款。贷款方对仅凭一家创业公司放贷有所顾虑，芯片供应商 Broadcom 承诺在 Anthropic 停止付款时承担大部分贷款。Broadcom CEO Hock Tan 与银行高管在周末谈判，同意提高贷款利率后，交易才最终敲定。
WSJ: Anthropic’s $63B chip financing closed only after Broadcom CEO Hock Tan negotiated with bank executives over a weekend and agreed to higher interest rates on the loans.
Anthropic needed $63B to lease chips it can’t afford to buy outright, so a shell company borrowed that money from banks and Blackstone, will buy the chips, and will repay the loans from Anthropic’s rent payments.
Because lenders were nervous about lending against a startup alone, Broadcom (which sells the chips) promised to cover most of the loans if Anthropic stops paying, and agreed to higher interest rates to get the deal signed.
