Personal news: I’m joining Sound Ventures as an advisor. Fun story, Guy Oseary first reached out back when The Rundown had 150K subscribers. I had no idea what I was doing, and I’m still not sure why he took the call... But we’re at 3.5M now, and I’ve learned he has a real gift for spotting talent early, whether that’s in music or through early investments like OpenAI and Anthropic. Fortunate to be on the receiving end of that, and even more grateful for his mentorship along the way! What makes Sound different is how much they focus on brand, marketing, storytelling, and distribution, which in my opinion is the most important thing right now. It’s never been easier or cheaper to start a company, but the flip side is that new startups pop up in the same categories every day. What makes one stand out is the ability to tell its story. I’ll also be getting a closer look at what’s coming before it’s obvious, and I’ll be sharing what I’m seeing with you.
