The US Department of Homeland Security is ordering civilian federal agencies to remove DeepSeek and third-party products built on it, and stop buying them.
I think this is also a response to China's ban on tech exports: China is proposing tighter export controls on certain AI technologies. Washington is restricting Chinese models inside government.
I see both moves as part of a broader push toward AI sovereignty, with governments tightening control over which technologies can leave their borders and whose models they allow in.
