独立开发者 levelsio 引用 Steve Lacey 的观察称，即便网站提供 MCP，AI 智能体也几乎不会优先使用。他此前长期反对 MCP，认为其底层与 API 几乎相同，API 已能实现同样功能。他预测长期 MCP 和 API 端点会合并，统一支持 API key 和 OAuth 账户级访问。他目前在自己网站添加 MCP 只是迎合用户的预期。

I thought the same before which I was against MCP so long
I always thought APIs could do the same already, in the back they're almost exactly the same
Long term I think MCP and API endpoints will just merge into one, both supporting API keys and OAuth account level access
I have been adding MCPs to my site simply for the fact that people expect them now but as Steve says it's debatable if AI agents actually will use them over whatever other way there is to use your site
